Kayakers Volunteer

Many kayakers volunteer around the world to help keep rivers pristine. Some even help to support other causes, such as disease in Africa. In this week's blog, check out the video below. American Whitewater is an organization in the United States that many boaters belong to which support the preservation of our rivers. Check out their site, click on the map of your area and look as some of the service projects they support, then answer the following questions for your project.

1. What is the main goal of the project?
2. How are kayakers involved?
3. What river is involved?
4. What river statistics would be important for a kayaker?
5. Who is the USGS and how do they support this site?

Classic Climbs

For this week's post, take a look at Climbing Magazine's website. They have a list of "Classic Climbs". Choose one of these climbs and discuss:

2. How is the climb classified?
3. What geological process helped to form it?
4. What equipment would you need?
5. What safety precautions should climbers take?
6. If you wanted to do this climb, what outdoor adventure company could take you there?
